The Opportunity

We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented individual to join our Engineering team. The Technical Writer will maintain and coordinate the activities pertaining to technical writing and documentation control for Engineering team for various facilities.  The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who ultimately promotes a culture of continuous improvement.


  • Owner/author of technical documents pertaining to equipment including but not limited to: user requirement specifications, qualification/validation (design qualification, installation and operational qualification, performance qualification), risk assessment, standard operating procedures, work instructions, non conformance, planned deviations, change controls
  • Responsible for working closely with a cross functional team (ops, maintenance, quality, engineering, R&D) to create and develop technical documents
  • Track and maintain the construction and engineering documentation using the current defined processes, tools, workflows and logs
  • Manage equipment labeling
  • Manage updates and hard copies of equipment drawings and documentation
  • Manage equipment data sheet updates
  • Help establish methods to ensure latest approved documents and drawings are received, available and distributed to the appropriate staff, subcontractors and suppliers as applicable
  • Help create and reorganize documents in folders preparation to upload into the new document system
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Post Secondary Diploma / Degree in a related field or a suitable combination of education and practical experience managing documents
  • Excellent research skills
  • Must have excellent computer skills and experience with G-Suite, Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Adobe
  • Knowledge of manual or electronic document control systems would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • High level understanding of design & construction methodology
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects and work in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Technical Writing and CAD experience a definite asset
